Order Error: Item "out of stock" or "low availability" on the POS

Why an order fails because an item is out of stock on your POS, and how to fix it.

Written by Gildas Burnel

What you'll see

You receive a failed-order email from Stream with one of these reasons:

The ordered item is out of stock on the POS.

The ordered item has low availability on the POS.

What it means

Your POS tracks stock for this item. When the order arrived, the stock count had reached 0 ("out of stock"), or it was lower than the quantity the customer ordered ("low availability"). The order failed because of this.

DoorDash Retail: orders are no longer failed for this reason. Stream automatically trims the unavailable items and sends the adjustment back to DoorDash. See DoorDash Retail Order Acceptance.

How to fix it

Choose the option that matches how you manage this item:

  1. You track stock for this item: refill the stock in your POS, or set the item to unavailable so it stops being offered on delivery apps until it is back.

  2. You do not want stock tracked for this item: turn off stock tracking for the item in your POS, if your POS allows it.

Then resync your menu in Stream and publish it to your delivery apps so the change is visible to customers.

Still seeing the error? If the item shows as in stock in your POS and the order still failed, contact Stream Support at [email protected] with your Stream location name, the delivery app, the order ID, the item name and the date and time of the failed order.
