If you edit an item or modifier in Stream, later changes to that item in your POS may stop syncing. This article explains why, and how to bring the item back in line with your POS.
What you might notice
You changed a detail such as a price or an allergen in your POS, but your menu on your delivery apps still shows the old value.
A detail in Stream, for example an allergen, does not match what is set in your POS.
Why this happens
When your POS sends an update, Stream compares the new POS value with the value it holds for that field. Stream applies the update only if the field still matches the last value your POS sent. If someone has edited the field in Stream so that it no longer matches the POS, Stream treats it as your own change and does not overwrite it.
For example, your POS price is $10 and you change it to $15 in Stream. If the POS price then changes from $10 to $12, Stream does not apply it. If you set the Stream price to $12 so that it matches the POS again, Stream applies the next POS change (for example, $12 to $14).
How to fix it
Set the field in Stream to exactly the same value as your POS. The steps are the same for an item or a modifier.
Open your dashboard and select the affected store.
Click Menu in the left navigation.
Find the item or modifier you want to correct. You can open it from the Library panel under All Items or All Modifiers. For a modifier, you can also open the menu item that contains the modifier group, select the modifier, and open its details panel.
Update the field so that it matches your POS exactly. For allergens, check that every allergen set in your POS is also selected in Stream. If an allergen looks selected but does not register as changed, turn it off and on again.
Click Save, select the store, and confirm.
Go back to Menu and click Publish (or Publish all) to send the change to your delivery apps.
When the field matches your POS again, future POS updates to it sync as normal.
Good to know
Allergen information matters for your customers' safety. After you fix a field, check that your delivery apps show the correct allergens.
Re-syncing your POS does not remove overrides you set manually for a location.
If a field still does not sync after you match it to your POS, contact Stream Support. Tell us the item or modifier name and the store.
