Editing Modifiers on POS-Synced Items (Permissions)

Who can edit modifiers and modifier group rules on items synced from your POS, and how custom roles control it.

Items synced from your POS keep their modifier structure and modifier group rules locked in Stream. Custom roles let you choose who is allowed to change them.

What is locked

For items that come from your POS, members without the permission can't edit the modifiers or the modifier group rules. Only POS-synced items are locked in a modifier group's item selector.

On the modifier group page, members without the permission can't:

  • Remove (delete) modifiers that are synced from your POS.

  • Edit the minimum, maximum, free and default quantity rules of a modifier group that is synced from your POS.

Locked rule cells show a managed in POS tooltip that explains why the cell can't be edited.

Who can edit them

If your account uses custom roles, administrators can grant these permissions per role:

  • POS modifier actions — let that role edit modifier structure on POS-synced items.

  • POS override — this permission also covers modifier group rules, whichever scope the change is saved at.

To change a role's permissions, see How to Add Members to Locations.

Troubleshooting

I can't edit a modifier or a modifier group's rules.

The item is synced from your POS and your role doesn't have the permission. Ask your account administrator to update your role. Roles that edited these before may need the POS override and modifier permissions added.

I can't remove a POS modifier, or a rule cell shows "managed in POS".

Modifiers and rules that are synced from your POS can only be changed by roles that have the permission. The tooltip on a locked cell tells you the cell is managed in your POS. Ask your account administrator to update your role if you need to change it.
