Why DoorDash scheduled orders don't show up in Stream until close to pickup

How to receive DoorDash scheduled orders in Stream as soon as they're placed

Written by Gildas Burnel

Overview

When a customer places a scheduled (future) order on DoorDash, you may not see it in Stream straight away. This is because of how DoorDash sends scheduled orders.

Why this happens

DoorDash holds on to scheduled orders and only sends them once they can be treated as ASAP orders. DoorDash decides when to send each one based on the estimated pickup time, the size of the order and your store's opening hours. Until then, the order stays on DoorDash's side, so it doesn't appear in Stream.

Your Stream Scheduled/Future Order preference only takes effect once DoorDash has sent the order to Stream.

Receiving DoorDash scheduled orders when they're placed

DoorDash has a scheduled orders flag that can be switched on for your account. When it's on, DoorDash sends scheduled orders at the moment they're placed, not close to pickup time. When it's off, orders arrive when it's time to fire them to the kitchen.

This flag can only be switched on by DoorDash Support. It can't be changed from Stream.

How to request it

  1. Contact DoorDash Support.

  2. Ask them to enable the scheduled orders flag on your account.

You can copy this message:

Hi DoorDash Support, please enable the scheduled orders flag on our account so that scheduled orders are sent to our integration at the time they are placed. Store: [store name and address]. Thank you.

Setting your Stream preference

Once DoorDash has switched on the flag, choose when Stream fires scheduled orders to your POS:

  1. Go to Order Settings.

  2. Select the gear icon.

  3. Choose your Scheduled/Future Order preference and click Save.
