Due to constraints, Toast customers are unable to update their menu hours, as they are greyed out on Stream. You are only able to update your menu hours on Toast, which you can update on the specific menu hours, or your online ordering hours.
How to Update Menu Hours on Toast POS
Specific Menu Hours (Menu Availability) — controls when a given menu (breakfast, lunch, happy hour, etc.) appears on the POS and Toast Online Ordering.
Online Ordering Hours — controls when guests can place online orders at all, separate from any individual menu's schedule.
Menu Availability has two places in Toast Web where it can be updated: Menu Manager and Menu Builder. Both accomplish the same result — use whichever view you're already working in.
Part 1: Update Specific Menu Hours (Menu Availability)
Applies to: Toast Web — Menu Manager and Menu Builder Permissions needed: Menu management permissions on your Toast Web user account Important: Availability is a menu-level setting only — it cannot be applied to a menu group, an individual item, or a modifier. If you need an item or group on its own schedule, create a separate menu for it and apply the schedule to that menu instead.
Option A — Update from Menu Manager
Use this when you want to update one menu's schedule quickly from a single settings panel.
In Toast Web, go to Menus > Menu management > Menu manager.
Select the name of the menu you want to schedule.
In the settings panel on the right, under Availability, select Specific days and time. A day/time table appears.
Select the pencil icon next to the day/time table.
In the pop-up, choose the Day(s) available and Time available.
Select Save.
Select Publish all changes.
Option B — Update from Menu Builder
Use this when you're already editing a menu's full details or prefer the builder view.
Go to Menus > Menu management > Menu builder (or select Menu builder from Quick actions on the Toast Web homepage).
Next to the menu name, select the three-dot overflow menu, then Edit.
Scroll to the Availability section.
For When is this menu available?, select Specific days and time.
Select the pencil icon next to the Day(s)/Time table.
By default all days are selected — deselect any day you don't want included.
By default the menu is available at all times on selected days. Uncheck Available at all times to enter specific Start and End times.
Select Save in the pop-up.
At the top of the page, select Save, then Publish all changes.
Part 2: Update Online Ordering Hours
This is a separate setting from menu availability — it governs whether guests can place an online order at all, independent of which menu is currently showing.
Applies to: Toast Online Ordering, managed in Toast Web Permissions needed: 6.4 Publishing, 6.6 Restaurant Operations Setup (3.29 Throttle Online Orders if snoozing/pausing orders)
Add a schedule override (temporary hours change — holidays, special events)
In Toast Web, go to Takeout & delivery > Online ordering hours.
Select + Add override.
Choose the date or date range and set the hours (15-minute increments). The hours entered are the hours you're open — anything outside them is treated as closed. To close the full day, check Closed all day.
Optional: add a guest-facing description.
To set multiple time blocks in one day, select + Add interval, and specify whether it applies to Takeout & Third-party delivery, First-party delivery, or both (first-party delivery overrides must be set separately — they aren't covered by a Takeout & Third-party override).
Select Add.
Select Save and Publish all changes.
