Setting Your Location's Currency

How Stream determines your location's currency, and how to set it directly if your POS can't provide one.

How Stream sets your location's currency

Every location on Stream needs a currency so your prices, taxes, and payouts calculate correctly. Stream now handles this in a few ways:

1. Automatically, from your POS

Most POS systems report a currency for each location, and Stream uses it automatically. There's nothing you need to do here.

2. Inferred from your location's country

Some POS systems (for example, certain Oracle Simphony/Micros setups) don't report a usable currency. In these cases, Stream now infers a sensible default currency based on your location's country instead of failing to set one at all.

3. Set it yourself, if needed

If your POS can't provide a currency and you need to set or correct it, go to Locations > [your location] > Settings and look for the Currency field. Select the correct currency and save.

Good to know

If you set a currency manually and your POS later reports a different one, Stream will ask whether you want to switch to the POS-reported currency or keep your manual selection.
