How to Check Channel Visibility on Toast for Stream

Stream Support Knowledge Base | Toast POS Integration

Overview

Channel Visibility in Toast controls which ordering channels (e.g. Third Party, Online Ordering, In-House) can see specific menus and menu items. If a menu or item is not visible on the correct channel, it will not publish to Stream or your connected DSPs (DoorDash, Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc.).

Use this guide when troubleshooting missing items, empty menus, or failed publishes that may be caused by a visibility misconfiguration in Toast Back Office.

Before You Begin

• Access to Toast Back Office (admin credentials or manager-level access)

• The location in question connected to Stream

• Know which DSP channel is affected (e.g. DoorDash, Uber Eats)

Part 1: Check Menu-Level Channel Visibility

Menu-level visibility determines whether an entire menu is available to a channel. This is the first place to check.

Step 1

Log in to Toast Back Office

Go to https://www.toasttab.com/restaurants/admin and sign in with your credentials.

Step 2

Navigate to Menus

From the left sidebar, go to Menus. This opens the Menus management page.

Step 3

Open Menu Manager

Under the Menu Management portion of the page, select Menu Manager. This will display all configured menus for the location.

Step 4

Select the Menu

Click the menu you want to inspect (e.g. Delivery Menu or your main menu name).

Step 5

Check the Channel Availability section

On the menu details page, scroll to the Channel Availability section. Ensure the Online Ordering Partners toggle is enabled for the menu to be visible to Stream.

Step 6

Save any changes

If you toggled a channel on, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save. Changes take effect on the next menu publish from Stream.

📝 Note: If Channel Availability is not visible on the menu page, the Toast account may not have Third Party integrations enabled. Contact Toast Support to confirm the integration features are active.

Part 2: Check Item-Level and SubGroup Level Channel Visibility

Even if the menu is correctly configured, individual items and subgroups can have their own channel visibility overrides. Check here if specific items are missing from Stream but the menu publishes successfully.

Step 1

Navigate to the Menu Item

From the Menu Manager page, click into the relevant Menu, SubGroup, or Item.

Step 2

Locate Channel Availability Settings

Scroll to the Channel Availability section within the editor.

Step 3

Review the Channel Settings

Confirm that Online Ordering Partners is toggled on for the item. If it is toggled off, the item will be excluded from any Stream menu publish, even if the parent menu is correctly configured.

Step 4

Save and Re-Publish

Click Save on the item. Then trigger a fresh menu publish from the Stream dashboard to push the updated item visibility to the DSP.

⚠️ Important: Item and SubGroup-level visibility overrides menu-level visibility. An item set to hide on Online Ordering Partners will not appear on Stream even if the parent menu and group are fully enabled.

Part 3: After Making Changes

Once channel visibility has been corrected in Toast Back Office, you need to trigger a republish from Stream to propagate the changes to the DSPs.

1. Log in to the Stream Dashboard.

2. Navigate to the location in question.

3. Go to Menus and click Publish (or Re-Publish) to push the updated menu to the affected DSPs.

4. Confirm the publish succeeds and verify the items are visible on the DSP platform.

📝 Note: Menu publish timing varies by DSP. DoorDash and Uber Eats typically reflect changes within a few minutes, but allow up to 15–30 minutes before escalating.

Quick Troubleshooting Reference

Symptom

Likely Cause & Action

Entire menu missing from DSP

Menu-level Online Ordering Partners channel is disabled. Enable in Menu Manager > [Menu Name] > Channel Availability.

Specific items or subgroups missing from DSP

Item or SubGroup-level Online Ordering Partners is off. Check the item or subgroup in Menu Manager > Channel Availability.

Publish succeeds but items still missing

Re-check item and subgroup Channel Availability and re-publish. DSP cache may also need time to clear.

Channel Availability section not visible

Online Ordering Partners integration may not be enabled on the Toast account. Contact Toast Support.
